WHY LEARN PATTERN MAKING?

Achieve a perfect fit every time

Your body shape is unique and if you think about the infinite number of body shapes and combinations, it’s hardly a surprise that such a small number of people match standard pattern or store-bought clothing sizes. With pattern making skills, you can create designs and sew clothes that are tailored to your exact measurements.

Express your creativity

Our pattern making courses are designed to give you all the experience and skills necessary to bring your own garment designs, to life.

Save money and create a mindful wardrobe

Custom-made garments cost a fortune. By learning pattern making, you can create high-quality, bespoke pieces for a fraction of the cost.

Gain a deeper understanding of fashion design

You’ll learn to understand how fabric transforms from a flat pattern piece into a structured 3D garment, enhancing your sewing and design skills.

Transform & Repurpose Old Clothes

With pattern making knowledge, you can deconstruct your favourite garments, create new patterns and turn outdated pieces into something fresh and modern. You’ll learn the fundamentals of pattern fit and ease, where to place darts and what types of seams to use.

Turn Your Passion into a Career

Pattern making is a highly sought-after skill in the fashion industry. Whether you want to work in fashion design or start your own label, this expertise can open up exciting career opportunities.

Pattern making is enjoyable and rewarding.

Pattern drafting skills will open up a whole new range of sewing possibilities and bring you into contact with other, like-minded sewists who will encourage and inspire yo.

You’ll start by creating a pattern block (sometimes called a sloper) which is a basic pattern that you can adapt to create many different styles of clothing - all with your exact measurements for a custom fit.
