Are you a hat person? The truth is that everyone can be - it's just a matter of finding the right design to frame your face. This is a fun and informative day for fashionistas who love to make a statement, or HSC students wanting to include millinery in their Major Work. It's also a great way to use treasured remnants from your stash and let your imagination run wild creating decorative trims. We’ll provide the pattern and wool fabric to make your hat - you provide the trims to decorate your masterpiece.

Skill Level

A basic hat pattern with multiple brim options
will be provided at the beginning of the class. You’ll be able to choose a style that suits your own taste and the shape of your head. The wool fabric to make the hat will also be provided. There’s a maximum of eight students for this workshop, to provide you with individual attention

HAT MAKING COURSE DETAILS

Join the workshop and learn to make a bespoke hat and decorate it with trims of your choice. Examples of different kinds of hat bands will be shared and then the fun really begins. Let your creativity run wild and design a hat to create a one-off piece that will be uniquely yours. 

WHAT ARE THE BEST FABRICS FOR THIS TYPE OF HAT?

Firm heavy weight wools and woven materials are ideal choices for this hat. Fabric will be supplied - you get to choose a colour that suits you. If you need help or advice in choosing purchasing trims, please feel free to contact us. We’ll also provide more detailed instructions upon enrolment.
